A DARWEN mum-of-two and breast cancer survivor is rallying women to join the fight against the deadly disease.

Kerry Elliott, 42, will be guest of honour at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life Blackburn on June 28 in Witton Park,

Kerry, who works as a science technician, is encouraging mums, daughters, sisters and friends to unite to help beat the disease by entering the 5K run.

This year will be her sixth Race for Life event and she even took part in the London Marathon in April.

Kerry, diagnosed aged 36, said: “Taking part in Race for Life was a real celebration of my recovery and I have done it ever since and it absolutely got me into running.

“I feel so honoured to be special guest at Blackburn, an emotional but brilliant event.”

Jane Bullock, Cancer Research UK’s Lancashire spokeswoman, said: “Life-saving research is being funded right now thanks to the women of Blackburn running, jogging or walking at Race for Life.”
