A YOUTH council is to be set up in Pendle.
The plan has been baked by the borough council after a review of youth engagement in the area was conducted earlier this year.
A working group is to be established to work on what the youth council would deal with.
More details are set to be revealed in the coming months after further discussions among borough councillors of the makeup of the new body.
The review has also suggested information on a councillor’s role be distributed to high schools and Nelson and Colne College.
An annual campaign on Facebook to encourage young people to register to vote is also to be carried out by the borough, after the ‘success’ of one in 2016.
The report also recommended that a standing item on ‘youth issues’ be added to area committee agendas or asking town and parish councils to consider this as a regular meeting topic.
A progress report is to be put together in six months.
