A SCANDAL-HIT former MP suspended by Labour for sending explicit texts has quit the party, claiming it has ‘totally lost touch’ with reality.

Simon Danczuk also said his former constituency of Rochdale needs someone who will speak up for them rather than being ‘voting fodder’ for leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Mr Danczuk is a former Blackburn with Darwen councillor and used to live in Hapton.

He confirmed the news by posting on Twitter a photo of his Labour Party membership card cut in two alongside a resignation letter.

His criticism comes days after he was banned from standing at the general election for Labour in Rochdale, a seat he had held since winning it from the Liberal Democrats in 2010.

The controversial figure was suspended from the party in December 2015, pending an investigation.
