IT looks set to be an action-packed weekend across East Lancashire.

Sci-fi fans will be in for a treat at the Bat Cave in Northgate, Blackburn as the centre celebrates Free Comic Book Day on Saturday.

The fast-growing teenage market will take place over the weekend in Blackburn’s Town Hall Street.

There will be a variety of stalls for young traders and performers to showcase their creative products.

Youngsters have the chance to try a climbing wall, a penalty shootout and take part in arts and crafts at the Blackburn Youth Zone’s family fun day on Saturday.

The crafts market in Colne’s town centre is also expected to draw in a crowd.

While Tasha Coupe, 25, is set to complete her personal challenge of spending 50 hours in a glass box at the Tesco store in Blackburn to raise awareness of autism on Saturday at 2pm.

The region’s best grub will also be available to sample at the North West Food and Drink festival in Accrington over the weekend.

A new cafe, community cinema, wellbeing hub, exhibition space will be opened at Stubbylee Community Greenhouses in Bacup on Saturday.

This will be followed by the Stubblylee Soap Box Challenge.

While Sunday will see the reopening of Towneley Hall’s picture gallery in Burnley and a supercar rally from the Forest of Bowland to Hippo Motor Group at Blackburn’s Trident Park.

The weather looks like a mixed bag over the weekend.

This evening will see most of the sunshine with temperatures at 14C.

The Met Office added there are chances of light rain on Saturday morning, followed by a dull overcast into the evening with a temperature of 12C.

Sunday is brighter with temperatures reaching 16C.

But by the late afternoon and evening the clouds will return and remain there through the evening.
