THREE fire crews were called to a blaze at a flat in Great Harwood this morning after reports that people were trapped inside.

The appliances, two from Hyndburn station and one from Blackburn, were despatched to the address in St Huberts Road at 8.54am.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue service spokesman said: "Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus entered a first floor flat on fire, committed to rescue anyone inside.

"There was in fact no-one still in the flat and there were no casualties.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire using a hosereel jet.

"The cause of the fire is to be established."
