TWO best friends from Blackburn have raised more than £200 for the British Heart Foundation.

Mae Chambers, 11, and Olivia Maudsley, nine, created their own loom bands and sold dozens of them to neighbours.

The youngsters raised the cash after Mae, who lives in Brotherston Drive with her family, was born with a heart condition which led to her having open heart surgery as a baby.

Olivia's mum, Jane, of Preston Old Road, said she was immensely proud of the girl's achievements.

She said: "It is amazing how two young girls spent their own time and efforts making the bands and selling them.

"They event made a poster, a price list and prepared a speech for people to let them know what they were doing.

"I'm so glad they've raised a lot of money and Lyn, Mae's mum, was so happy for her daughter.

"Raising money for the British Heart Foundation is a great thing to do as they help support so many people and fight heart disease."
