A CHARITY that works to help stray cats in Hyndburn is approaching its fundraising target for new equipment.

Friends of the Cats in Accrington is looking to raise £500.

The organisation is hoping to put the money towards new pens, food and medical equipment so that it can help give care to a greater number of cats.

So far £417 has been raised and staff have said they are thankful for the support they have received.

A spokesman said: “We do everything in our power to get these cats back on track and give them the life they deserve by finding them their forever home.

“A lot of people don’t understand how much we do for these cats and how much time and money go into making these cats better.

“We need to stop facing this problem alone and ask the general public to help as we’re only a small group of people.”

Friends of the Cats were called in to action earlier this week when they had to collect and care for cat Rufus, who was shot in the nose by a pellet in Bold Street, Accrington.
