A CRIME author is set to visit Darwen Library as part of the Read Regional 2017 programme.

Author A.A. Dhand will be talking about his novel Streets Of Darkness on Wednesday, May 3, from 7pm.

Publishers describe the book as ‘an electrifying crime thriller full of pace, power and passion’.

It follows the story of Detective Inspector Harry Virdee who is suspended from work just as the most high-profile murder the city has ever seen occurs.

Mr Dhand said: “It is a sombre, gritty race through the unsettling underbelly of Bradford and explores the history, diversity and darkness of the city.”

From March to June each year the annual Read Regional campaign celebrates selected new books from the North of England.

The final event in the series will take place on Wednesday, June 7, with author Naomi Booth talking about her book The Lost Art of Sinking.

Free tickets for the events are available from the library.

People are advised to book early. For a full list of books, authors and events visit www.newwritingnorth.com/projects/read-regional/.ry.
