AN OSWALDTWISTLE couple took their 13-year-old son on holiday to Spain instead of sending him to school.
Blackburn magistrates heard staff at Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School were not aware the boy had gone on holiday until they received a text message from his parents to say he would not be back from Spain until Friday.
Barry and Lisa Copper, of Cross Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to failing to ensure the regular school attendance of their son. Barry Cooper was fined £100 with £100 costs and £30 victim surcharge and Lisa Cooper was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.
