A 46-YEAR-OLD man grabbed his 21-year-old daughter round the throat with both hands during a row.

Blackburn magistrates heard the daughter thought her dad was going to strangle her and was screaming at him to get off.

She eventually managed to flee from the house and waited for the police, who had been called by one of her sisters.

Araf Hussain, of Stevenson Street East, Accrington, pleaded guilty to assaulting Aneesa Hussain. He was remanded on bail until May 11 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Hussain shared the house with his wife, daughter and her nine siblings. On the day of the incident there was an 'issue' and he was shouting and screaming at her and calling her a slag.

"He told her to pack her bag and leave and then grabbed her by the neck with both hands," said Miss Allan. "The attack was witnessed by one of her sisters who called the police."

Richard Prew, defending, said the injuries were not as serious as they could have been.

"He accepts it was a very unpleasant experience for his second eldest daughter," added Mr Prew.
