A TEENAGE driver stopped for a routine check was found to have cannabis in his system.
Blackburn magistrates heard as a result of his conviction for drug driving and the loss of his licence Reece Adam Parker would lose his job as an apprentice bricklayer.
Parker, 18, of Hornby Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to driving while over the specified limit for cannabis.
He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 12 months.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said when police stopped Parker in the early hours of Boxing day they noticed his pupils were dilated and his speech was slow.
Richard Prew, defending, said his client had never been in trouble with the police before.
He said Parker had completed two years of a three-year apprenticeship and needed his licence to work.
"This conviction will have a devastating effect on him," said Mr Prew.
"He was just doing a mate a favour by giving him a lift."
