HYNDBURN Council’s leisure boss has said he is ‘delighted’ to see the number of people signing up for bowls passes despite a £25 charge recently introduced.
The passes are need to play crown greens bowls on any pitch managed by the council during the summer months.
The bowls pass allows the holder to bowl on any of the 10 council-managed bowling greens throughout the borough and are valid from now until September 30.
Cllr Ken Moss said: “It’s been going very well so far and we’ve not noticed any difference in uptake.
“In fact people have been signing up for bowls passes who haven’t done previously as they haven’t known they were available.
“It’s encouraging people to make use of the council’s bowling greens, which I’m delighted to see.”
People can apply for a pass from the Parks Service based at Willows Lane by calling 01254 356265.
