DARWEN Cricket Club has elected a new honorary secretary for the upcoming inaugural season in the Lancashire League.
Andrew Cook, who has been associated with the club since the mid 1980s, was handed the position at the executive committee meeting.
The veteran left-armer holds the record for the number of not outs in league action and he captained the first team for two years during the 2000s.
Chairman of the club Graham Ainslie said: “He brings great knowledge of the game and superb organisational skills.
“I am pleased that Andrew has stepped into this role at a pivotal time in our history and look forward to his contribution over the coming months and years.”
The club’s former secretary Colin Charnock died in February at the age of 78.
He spent 66 years with the Towers.
