A FUNDRAISING campaign has been set up to help fund a world record attempt in Accrington.

To coincide with Accrington Food Festival on Saturday, June 3, an ‘Oops Upside Your Head’ world record attempt will be taking place.

More than 600 people are wanted to form a human chain to carry out the disco dance at St James’ Church from 3pm.

A JustGiving page has now been set up by organiser Evonne Harwood to help cover running costs and insurance for the event.

She has set a £700 target for the fundraising and will also be holding a collection at the event.

Miss Harwood said: “We have to cover our own cost for this one but we will collecting on the day and also aiming to get local sponsors.

“This is an event for the town, and a great chance to get Accrington into the world record listings.”

The dance involves people sitting in rows and swaying from side to side to the sound of song by The Gap Band.

She has previously organised the Dickensian Christmas Night in Warner Street.
