A 12-YEAR-OLD girl remains in hospital after a suspected hit-and-run incident in Blackburn.

The girl suffered a fractured skull in the Harwood Street incident on Friday.

A two-year-old girl also suffered head and neck injuries but has since been released from Manchester Children’s Hospital.

The driver of a blue Volkswagen Golf is thought to have lost control while travelling along the road, on the Furthergate industrial estate, and hit a red VW Golf travelling in the opposite direction, at around 3pm.

The people inside the blue Golf are then thought to have dumped the car before a white Vauxhall Astra van arrived on the scene a short time later, according to police.

“The two-year-old girl has been discharged and while the 12-year-old girl remains in hospital, it is anticipated she will be discharged by the end of the week.
