A WARNING has been issue to householders about the dangers of placing wheelie bins near the walls of their properties after a fire in Burnley.
Two crews from the town fire station were called to a blaze in a rubbish bin at a home in Aspen Drive at 2am this morning.
Crew manager Damian Hartley said: "The fire was relatively quickly extinguished but there was some concern initially for the walls of the property catching alight.
"Luckily that did not happen.
"We would like to remind people that they should always place wheelie bins like the one which caught fire in a safe place.
"They should not be placed near the walls of properties where if they do catch fire they can set light to the adjacent buildings.
"It appears the fire could be a case of deliberate ignition to the rubbish in the bin."
