AN education centre to help pupils at risk of exclusion to stay in school has opened.

The Aspire Hub in Hammerton Street, Burnley, works with children identified by a school who need alternative provision to help them.

Around 20 children will be able to attend full time and will be reviewed on a six-week timetable.

The hub has two classrooms, play areas, and quiet areas with their own kitchens and dining areas.

Aspire North West director Gill Bullock said: “It will unpick children’s behaviour in a safe, nurturing environment that will support them, their parents and the school.

“We use therapy and assessment along with intense parenting to provide a bespoke package that has a positive impact on children’s mental health and social skills.

“The provision of food is paramount and provides an opportunity for practising important social skills like conversation."
