FOOTAGE shot from a drone of a half marathon has revealed a new perspective of Darwen.

The film was put together by Danny Grear, 35, who lives in the Bold Venture Park area of the town, who runs aerial videographer business Retinair.

Prior to last Sunday’s half marathon, organised by running group Darwen Dashers, Mr Grear was granted access to the roof of Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, where he launched his DJI Inspire drone.

The onboard camera captured footage of the 400 runners setting off for their challenge and also revealed stunning views of the town and its landmarks, including India Mill and Darwen Tower.

Mr Grear, who does commercial video work for businesses, said he wanted to show a different perspective of the race.

He said: “It was a great experience and I’m happy with the images and video.

“I’ve done some work with Ben Fish, who won the race and is from Darwen so I wanted to cover the race.

“I operated the drone from an iPad and I also took some pictures from a camera mounted on a motorbike.

“It’s important that all the right regulations are in place to do something like this.”
