A BLACKBURN man has been summonsed to appear in court over the road deaths of two young women on the A59 last year.
A 25-year-old will appear before magistrates accused of causing the deaths by dangerous driving of Rachel Marie Murphy, 21, and Shelby Maher, 17, both from Preston.
The friends were among a group of girls struck by a BMW at Brockholes Brow on April 20 last year.
Miss Murphy died from her injuries at the scene and Miss Maher died later at the Royal Preston Hospital. A 15-year-old girl was also said to have suffered a suspected broken arm and leg.
A police spokesman refused to give the man’s Blackburn address, for ‘safeguarding reasons’, and could not disclose the court and summons date.
