AN innovative cafe is bringing the taste of North Africa to Blackburn.

Taiba Arabic Inn opened it doors recently and has been hailed by the owner as the only place offering grilled chicken and lamb shawarma in Lancashire.

The business, based in Limbrick, is also set to expand next month to include a traditional Egyptian seating area.

Owner Ahmed Morse, who was born in Egypt, said he wants to introduce people to Arabic food and promote healthy living.

Mr Morse, 41, said: “I am trying to bring a taste of Morocco and Egypt to Blackburn. I travel to Morocco regularly and I was born in Egypt so I want to share that fantastic food with the people of Lancashire.

“I realised there is an Arab community here and there is nobody offering this kind of food - certainly not the way I am doing it.

“I am doing grilled chicken and lamb shawarma to make it healthier and there is nobody else in Lancashire doing that. I also make my own blend of coffee beans.

“The reaction to the cafe has been fantastic. People really wanted it I already have customers who come in every day because it reminds them of home. It’s a taste of Morocco but it’s cheaper than going there.

“I am going to expand the business to take over next door and create a traditional Egyptian seating area. It really will be like being in North Africa.”

The cafe specialises in Arabic food and sweets and has a menu with an emphasis on healthy body and mind.

The menu includes Shawarma, falafel, tagine, desserts, fresh juice, cappuccinos, espresso, milkshakes and more.

Customer Nazir Musa said: “I have worked for the past decade in the Middle East. I am delighted Blackburn is now seeing one of its first establishments offering original and authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.

“I wish the shop all the success for the future and I am sure it will do well.”
