A MAN who threatened a woman with a sword and attacked two police officers while in custody has been jailed.

Preston Crown Court heard Jamie Lee King, 23, also committed fraud after he tried to use stolen bank cards to buy various items.

When King, of no fixed address, is released from prison he will be banned from entering Blackburn town centre after police successfully applied for a three-year criminal behaviour order.

The court heard how King threatened Krissie Williams with a small sword in Heaton Street, Blackburn, on August 18.

The prosecution said King also committed an affray against Shabaz Ahmed while stealing a mobile phone and cash in Blackburn town centre on July 7.

On September 15, the court heard King received a stolen bank card belonging to Kathryn Borradaile and used at various businesses in Blackburn.

King also stole £250 and a document belonging to Pervaiz Akhtar in Blackburn on October 10 .

After being arrested by police on October 12 and held at Greenbank Police Station in Blackburn, King assaulted Inspector Dave Wilson and DC Goodison.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating, affray, five counts of fraud by false representation, theft, threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place and breaching the terms of a suspended prison sentence.

Recorder Guy Mathieson jailed him for 21 months.

The terms of the criminal behaviour order mean King must not enter any self service shops or stores situated within Blackburn town centre including any part of The Mall shopping centre, which includes any shops or stalls attached to it on King William Street, Ainsworth Street, Church Street and Northgate, including Blackburn Market and all adjoining Mall car park parking areas; any part Blackburn Cathedral or the Cathedral grounds; Heaton Street or Chapel Street in Blackburn; and the Salvation Army Hostel in Blackburn.

King must also not enter Blackburn Bus station, Lifestyle Express store at Mill Hill Bridge Street, Blackburn,Tesco in Bank Top, Blackburn, Spar in New Chapel, Mill Hill, Blackburn,; Audley Sports Centre in Blackburn, Chester Street, Blackburn; and Wesley Hall, Feilden Street, Blackburn.

Speaking after the case PC Paul Corris, from the Blackburn town centre team, said: “This order will undoubtedly prevent King from causing any further issues in and around the town centre and also prevent him targeting local businesses.”
