RED Nose Day celebrations have taken place across the county as people of all ages got involved with fundraising.

The appeal by Comic Relief takes place every two years to raise money for those in need across the world.

Pupils from Barrowford Primary School took part in a non-uniform day and St John the Baptist Primary School in Thames Avenue, Burnley, encouraged youngsters to wear red to show their support.

King George’s Hall in Blackburn staged a special Red Nose breakfast to mark the occasion and Pleckgate High School celebrated by providing a cake sale for children to enjoy.

The school recently received a letter from Comic Relief co-founder Lenny Henry which praised them as a Red Nose ‘Super School’ after raising more than £3,700 for the charity since 2008.

The Sainsbury’s store in Darwen hosted a variety of stalls.
