MICHAEL Keane praised the influence Sean Dyche has had on his game after making his England debut against Germany.

The 24-year-old played the full game in Dortmund as part of a back three as England fell to a 1-0 defeat in Gareth Southgate's first game after being given the job on a permanent basis.

Burnley centre back Keane said his debut had been a 'dream come true' and he said he was thankful for the faith Dyche had shown in him after leaving Manchester United to join the Clarets ahead of the 2014/15 season.

"I always thought, personally, that I was going to make it at United. A few changes in managers didn't help, so when I left, I felt like I had a point to prove," he said after the game.

"If anything (leaving United) made me work that bit harder. I'm thankful to Sean Dyche at Burnley for the work he's done with me and the faith he's put in me - that's what has got me to where I am today."

Keane was handed his debut from the start against Germany and he impressed as part of an experimental back three fielded by Southgate.

"It's a dream come true on a personal level," he said. "I've been striving to get here for the last year or two, having come through the Under-21s. So to finally do it, on a stage like this against the world champions is a dream come true for me personally.

"Obviously it's a shame about the result in the end, but I thought the lads played really well, created some good chances and on another day we would have won the game quite comfortably."

Now Keane is determined to add to his first cap and he could retain his place in the World Cup qualifier with Lithuania at Wembley on Sunday.

"I feel like I've always got to set new goals and I've managed to get to a huge one, making my debut, but I don't want to stop there," he said.

"There's a lot of great players ahead of me, so I know it's not going to be easy, but I don't want to rest now. I want to keep playing well for my club and see where it takes me - hopefully [there will be] many more caps to come."

Keane's Turf Moor contract expires at the end of the 2017/18 season and he has been linked with most of the Premier League's top six during this season.

The Clarets also rejected a £15million bid from champions Leicester City last summer but when asked about his future after his international Keane said he was remaining focused on events at Burnley.

"It's flattering to see, but I'm focused on Burnley," he said. "We've got nine games left in the season and we need to make sure we remain in the league.

"But to see things like that can only mean you're playing well."
