A MAN has appeared at court accused of making and possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography featuring animals.

Burnley Magistrates heard how Benjamin Robert Mitchell, 27, was allegedly in possession of 90 indecent images of category A, B and C seriousness featuring a child and six extreme pornographic images portraying a person engaging in sexual activity with animals including horses and dogs.

Mitchell, of Belvedere Road in Burnley, is also accused of making 11 indecent images of category A, B and C seriousness featuring a child, making six indecent images of category B seriousness featuring a child, and 64 indecent images of category C seriousness featuring a child.

All the alleged offences are said to have taken place in Burnley between May 2009 and February 2016.

The case was sent for trial at Burnley Crown Court on April 24.

Mitchell was given conditional bail not to have any unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16 without the permission of the child’s parents who must be aware of the related charges and Social Services permission.
