A NURSERY is set to increase its offering to families after being taken over by new owners.

Humpty Dumpty Nursery, based in Darwen Valley Community Centre, is now run by Sharon and Carl Berry.

Next month the husband and wife pair will open up the nursery all year round for the first time Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm with the exception of all bank holidays and one week at Christmas.

Previously, the nursery had only been open during term time.

Mr and Mrs Berry are also working on turning an old storage room into a baby room.

There will also be a before and after-school club available for children age four to eight for the first time with the possibility of a holiday club in the future if there is enough demand.

Mrs Berry said: “We have reorganised the main room and made it so that there are different areas for different types of learning.

“We are also developing a baby room because there are a lot of parents who have one child at the nursery but also have a baby.

“After carrying out a questionnaire with parents it seems that there is a demand for after school clubs and a holiday club.

“It’s an area with quite a lot of disadvantaged children and we hope to help them and give them a positive start in life with these new facilities.”

From September the nursery will also offer 30-hour funded sessions to parents who are eligible for it.

An open day will take place in May.
