A MINIATURE railway in Burnley will be reopening this week for the year.

The railway in Thompson Park will be open every weekend, on all bank holidays and every Wednesday during school holidays from Saturday.

It has just received a grant from Tesco’s Bags of Help which will go towards building a new third platform and third line through the station.

The opening hours of the railway, which is run by Burnley and Pendle Miniature Railway Society, are noon until 4pm.

The society is looking for new volunteers to help operate and maintain the railway.

If anyone is interested in helping out committee members will be available to speak to people at the park on any weekend.

Alternatively call the chairman George Lambert on 07964 290322.
