By taking part in that incident the court heard his co-defendant Yasser Ali had breached his bail conditions over a one-punch attack he had carried out on a Blackburn man in Blackpool.

Prosecuting Bob Ilyas told the court that incident happened on May 6 when victim Abbie Woodward had been in the Brannigans club with friends.

Ali, 27, of College Street, in Accrington, initially claimed self defence when interviewed by police but has since pleaded guilty to assault.

The court heard 'the more serious' incident took place in Darwen, on August 13 when Ali and Caan, 27, of Primrose Street, forced their way through the front door of the house in Blackburn Road.

Inside alone and in his bedroom at around 6.30pm was victim Dylan McIntyre.

The court heard neighbours saw and heard two Asian men kick their way in shouting 'ste'.

That was in reference to Stephen Singleton, who Mr Ilyas said was the partner of Mr McIntyre’s mother and had allegedly owed Caan £100.

Mr Ilyas said Mr McIntyre was forced into a downstairs sitting room and told by the defendants he would not be able to leave until his mum and Mr Singleton arrived.

They poked the victim in the back as he was forced downstairs and Caan told police in interview he accepted it must have been a frightening experience for him.

Defending father-of-two Ali, Ahmed Nadim said: “He understands as a result of his own unacceptable conduct he has compromised his own liberty and the security of his own family.”

Defending Caan, Mark Stuart said: “There is no excuse for what happened in the house. I don’t attempt to justify it."

Caan was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, while Ali was given nine months, suspended for 12 months. Ali was told to pay Mr Woodward £150 compensation within three months. Both men were given three months to pay Mr McIntyre £200.

Ali was given a 12-month curfew banning him from leaving home from 9pm and 6am.
