THE country’s finest ales are on sale at the 13th Pendle Beer Festival.

Hundreds of people turned out for the first two days of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) event to try the 120 beers on offer, and hundreds are expected for the final day today.

Ale connoisseurs gathered at the Muni in Colne to sample a variety stouts, ales, ciders and lagers.

There is a variety of pop, rock and folk bands performing over the course of the festival. Money was being raised for Pendleside Hospice by businesses sponsoring the beer barrels.

Ian Lowcock, from Salterforth, who has been a member of CAMRA since 1971, said the event was a success so far.

He said: “It was great to see so many people turn up. The venue was in a perfect location and we were lucky to have a great layout to maximise the space inside. There’s been lots of people getting excited about beer.”
