A BURGLAR with a lengthy criminal record from Rossendale has been jailed for two-and-a-half years

Jason Claude Aspinall, 22, got away with nearly £4,000 worth of household goods after his latest break-in, Burnley Crown Court was told.

But Aspinall was caught out after he left fingerprints at the scene and imprints from footwear which could be traced back to him, the court heard.

Prosecutor Stephen Parker said none of the property taken was ever recovered by police.

The most expensive item taken in the burglary was an Omega Seamaster watch worth £2,700.

Aspinall, of Newchurch Road, Bacup, who admitted a burglary charge, initially refused to answer any questions posed by police after his arrest.

Mr Parker said the defendant had 40 previous convictions for 67 criminal offences, dating back to appearances before the youth court.

He has served four, six and eight-month prison sentences for burglary and had an anti-social behaviour order imposed on him previously.

Magistrates committed his case for crown court hearing because of his record.
