BURNLEY’S fine form in front of their own fans has given the squad renewed belief that they can put an end to their away day woes once their luck turns, according to defender Michael Keane.

The 24-year-old felt his side were again on the wrong end of some crucial decisions in the 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, notably the penalty awarded to Arsenal that gave Alexis Sanchez the chance to score the 98th-minute winner.

But Keane believes the away form, which has so far yielded just one point from 10 games, is beginning to improve, and he puts it down to the fact that Burnley have won eight league games at Turf Moor this season.

“We’ve got a bit more belief now. Obviously we’ve got a good number of points on the board and that gives us the belief to play away from home in the same way that we do at home,” said the central defender.

“We look to get a few passes away but we want to mix our football as well. We want to make it ugly for them because they don’t like it.

“I don’t think Arsenal would’ve liked playing against us because they’re probably not used to our style of play.

“We want to keep making it difficult, we’ve had a lot of tough away games, and although they’re all tough we’ve got some better ones coming up so if we continue to play like that we’ll get that win.”

Having seen Andre Gray equalise in the 93rd minute Burnley were furious when Laurent Koscielny won a late penalty despite being in an offside position.

“That is what makes it so difficult,” said Keane. “You come to these places, everybody knows that our away form hasn’t been great, but I feel as though we deserved something.

“It just feels like nothing is going for us away from home. Nothing is going for us at the minute.

“We came to Arsenal who are a top team, they had a lot of the ball, and if we played at home they would have a lot of the ball.

“It’s just one of those things; nothing is falling for us away from home at the minute. Decisions aren’t going our way but hopefully that will turn.”

Having played Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal in their last three away games the Clarets now travel to Watford, Hull and Swansea in their next three games on the road.

And former Manchester United youngster Keane insist the Clarets can take plenty of confidence into those games.

“I think we can definitely take belief from it,” he stressed. “I think our away performances in general have been growing and since the Tottenham game we’ve been good away.

“But to play well and not get anything out of it is the most disappointing thing, especially when you get robbed at the end like that.”
