WITH a week left to go before the transfer window closes, I hope Rovers can bring in some fresh faces to help strengthen the squad.

I know the manager has said that he is looking to add around three players, but it’s tough for him at the moment to get them in because of the money.

I would not say that signings are key to Rovers staying up this season, because I think that they have enough within their current squad to get out of the relegation zone.

Without them though, it will certainly be tough because the squad is looking stretched with the injuries they have at the moment.

I was at the game against Birmingham City on Saturday and yet again it was a bad start.

But after that I thought that they got back in to the game well and scored a good equalising goal just before half-time.

In the end, I thought a draw was probably a fair result. But Rovers need to be winning their home games in the position they find themselves in so it felt like something of a missed opportunity.

With four home games in a row, although one of them is in the FA Cup, you need to winning games to climb out of where you are in the table.

I think they can get out of the bottom three before the end of the season but it will be tough because they’re just not winning games consistently.

Every mistake they seem to be making is getting punished and that seems to be the case when you are down at the bottom.

Eventually something has to change though and hopefully it will otherwise it will be a long, tough season.

They have got to try and start better in matches because in the games that they have done that, such as the two against Newcastle, then they have managed to come out on the right side of it.

It all comes down to concentration and having that focus in the opening 20 or 30 minutes to not give anything away.

If you can stop the opposition from scoring in that period, then it forces them to come out that bit more. It was great to be back at the game on Saturday, as it always is, as a special guest.

I’m lucky that when I do I always get a great reception.

On Saturday evening I was at an event with Howard Gayle at AFC Darwen and it was great to catch up with him.

It was great to see Howard again, and having enjoyed playing with him, it was great to see my old teammates again.
