POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked in the grounds of a town centre church.
Police said they were investigating an allegation of rape in Chorley after they were called at around 7am on Saturday to reports a woman in her 20s had been assaulted in the grounds of St George's Church at around 4.45am.

A 20-year-old man from Leyland was later arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed until January 31 pending further enquiries.
On Saturday, police forensic teams could be seen working in the gardens surrounding the church.
