A 30-YEAR-OLD man sent sick messages to his ex-partner despite police issuing a harassment warning.

The court was told Ackers had a history of violent behaviour and Miss Riding was terrified by the threats he made.

Ackers, of Hermitage Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and harassing Jemma Riding. He was remanded on bail until February 1 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Philippa White, prosecuting, said Ackers was issued with the harassment warning in April and the situation settled down until November when he started sending messages via Facebook.

He initially apologised for his behaviour but the content became more and more ‘weird’.

He said he was moving to the Antarctic and changing his name to Marlon Brando.

He sent voice messages in which he was talking about demons and goblins and taking in a strange voice.

“She woke up at 9am on January 5 and had 54 new WhatsApp messages from him,” said Mrs White.

“He appeared to be having a conversation with himself but was sending them to her.”

One of the video clips showed him watching the film ‘Natural Born Killers’ and she blocked him on WhatsApp.

He then started sending text messages including one which said: “Don’t laugh, in time I will kill you.”

Richard Prew, defending, said when his client started to drink he became extremely maudlin and this was when he started to bombard his ex-partner with messages.

“Initially they were just gobbledegook, meaningless messages but there was an upping of the ante,” said Mr Prew.

“They became more concerning and he accepts the content of some of them was not pleasant.”
