A TEENAGER killed in a late night car crash has been described as ‘a well liked student’ and ‘politely mannered young man’.

Ammaar Nisar, 18, died after suffering head injuries in a road accident at around midnight on Sunday close to the junction of Shepherds Way and Clifford Street in Chorley.

Mr Nisar, of Lyons Lane, Chorley, was driving his Vauxhall Corsa along Shepherds Way towards Chorley town centre when it was involved in a collision close to a roundabout with a Toyota Yaris travelling eastbound.

Two other passengers were in Corsa at the time of the collision, police said.

An 18-year-old man suffered a head and shoulder injury while a 17-year-old boy suffered fractures to both hands.

The driver of the Yaris, a 52-year-old man from Blackburn was uninjured.

He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was taken into custody.

He was later released on bail until March 13 as police continue to investigate the circumstances involving the collision.

Councillor Hasina Khan, knew Ammaar and his family.

She said: “My thoughts are with the parents and family of Ammar, a very well liked and politely mannered young man.

“It’s a great loss to the whole community and such a young age it’s truly heartbreaking.

“As a mother of a son myself I can only begin to imagine what Ammar’s mother is going through now.

“I hope and pray the parents have the strength to get through this very difficult time.

“The community of Chorley as a whole are of course very saddened and emotional and united over this tragedy, in particular the young people.”

Ammaar was a student at Runshaw College in Leyland.

A Runshaw College spokesman said: “Ammaar was an incredibly well liked student and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this tragic time.”
