A SUPERMODEL from Rossendale who has turned her hand to acting has been cast in a major new BBC One show.

Agyness Deyn, who lived in Edenfield, will star in Hard Sun, a pre-apocalyptic crime drama set in contemporary London.

The 33-year-old, who attended All Saints RC High School and Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, will appear alongside Jim Sturgess.

Sturgess has previously stared in films including Cloud Atlas and The Other Boleyn Girl.

The new six-hour show has been penned by Neil Cross, who created the hit crime series Luther.

Deyn started her film career in 2010 with Clash of the Titans and also appeared in Pusher in 2012 and Sunset Song in 2015.

She also played the lead role in Electricity in 2013.

Deyn appeared in Hail Caesar alongside Hollywood A-listers George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton.

She is also due to appear in the film Patient Zero next month.
