A MAN who was persuaded to take part in a burglary at commercial premises claimed the other two did the dirty on him.

Blackburn magistrates heard Michael Lee Stanworth was the only one recognised from CCTV footage and he claimed the other two had taken the property and left him to carry the can.

Stanworth, 32, of the Salvation Army Hostel, Heaton Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to burglary at BHP Global, Kings Court, Blackburn, and theft of computer equipment.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, made subject to a curfew between 7pm and 8 am for eight weeks and 25 days rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said a window had been broken at the property and three men caught on CCTV.

Stanworth was seen to make several trips into the building before handing property to the other two men.

Peter King, defending, said Stanworth had been exploited by the other two men.

"He was put up to this by the other two who have not been identified," said Mr King. "They made off with the property and the small financial reward he was promised was not forthcoming. He has got nothing except an appearance in court today."
