LIGHT-FOOTED folk waltzed around the dancefloor at the annual Lancashire Telegraph Christmas tea dance.

The festive tradition took place yesterday at King George’s Hall in Blackburn, and gave guests the chance to take part in a variety of dances.

Neil and Jean Westwood, of Cherry Street, Blackburn, attended the event and said they found dancing a great way to bond.

Mr Westwood, 68, said: “I saw how happy dancing made her, and just thought I have to learn to dance.

“It’s a lovely event with some really great music, I wish I started dancing years ago.”

More than 100 people attended the event which also included a raffle, mince pies and tea and coffee.

Neville Taylor, 64, from Darwen, attended the event after recently taking up dancing with his wife.

He said: “It’s not just old people but younger people were taking part as well.

“It’s a nice little event and a good way to keep active and do something together.”
