BLACKBURN Rovers have confirmed they were aware of the ongoing assault court case involving striker Anthony Stokes when they signed him.
Stokes, 28, of Claremont Terrace, Glasgow, this week admitted to assaulting an Elvis Presley impersonator outside a nightclub in Dublin on June 8, 2013.
A Rovers spokesman confirmed the player has not been suspended and said the club will await the outcome of the case before taking any action.
The spokesman said: "The club is aware of the incident which took place over three years ago when Anthony was not a Blackburn Rovers player.
"He has kept us informed of proceedings throughout and we will await the outcome of the case before taking any action."
The case had been listed for trial November 22 but Stokes pleaded guilty at an arraignment hearing on Thursday.
Stokes, who has been released on continuing bail, will be sentenced on December 20.
Stokes signed for Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer on July 17.
