Williams, 28, of Whalley Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kaleigh Trickett.

He was sent to prison for four months after the magistrates were told he was being recalled on prison licence and would be behind bars until September 2017.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Miss Trickett had chatted with Williams on the dating site and thought he seemed ‘really nice’.

On the night of the assault she finished work at 8pm and they arranged to meet but she then said she was tired and was going home.

When she pulled up outside her house she realised he had followed her.

“He followed her into the house and into her bedroom where he began shouting at her,” said Miss Allan.

“He slammed a wardrobe door shut and told her not to ignore him.”

Miss Allan said Williams blocked the door and refused to let Miss Trickett leave.

When she banged on the window to try and get help he grabbed her by the arms and pushed her towards the bed.

“She jumped over the bed and tried to get to the door but he slammed it shut, jamming her knuckles into the frame,” said Miss Allan.

“At that point she screamed out in pain.”

Following the incident Miss Trickett ended the relationship but he refused to accept that and bombarded her with text messages.

Paul Huxley, defending, said his client had not deliberately set out to hurt Miss Trickett but accepted her arm had been trapped.

“He says it was an accident which was the reason for the apology messages that he sent,” said Mr Huxley.
