WHILE Mikey Worswick’s world title winning performance was the undoubted highlight of the evening, it was another memorable home show for Kokoro Kick Boxing Club.

Worswick topped the bill with his knockout performance to defeat Pedro Martinez to win the ISKA middleweight title but his clubmates played the perfect supporting role at a packed Audley Sports Centre.

Of the 18 fighters on the show, 16 of them emerged victorious - with area and English titles won on a night to remember.

Kaiser Farooq kicked off the winning streak for Kokoro when he went up against Owen Birnie from Padiham Kickboxing Club with an area title up for grabs.

It what was a real close battle, the fight ended in a draw only for the victory and the title to be awarded to Farooq after Birnie was unable to fight the extra round decider.

Tyree Holden has hit the ground running since taking up the sport and after just five bouts had a shot at the ISKA British Under 25kg kids title against the experienced Liam Beech from USKA Birmingham.

And while Holden narrowly lost against an opponent who has more than 40 fights under his belt, the future looks bright for the talented Kokoro fighter.

Lauren Walker was in superb form to win the English Ladies light welterweight title after she completely outclassed then stopped Naomi Thompson in the first round.

Accrington’s Brad Helm stepped in to the ring for the first time and had a debut to remember when he beat Rossendale’s Kristien Walker by unanimous decision.

Callum Thorpe, also from Accrington, beat the experienced Elder Gomez from Preston again by unanimous decision.

And the power of Sean Palmer was there for all to see when the Clitheroe man stopped James Barnes from Manchester with a second round knockout, displaying his trademark body punches.

Jake Braysford from Great Harwood made light work of Manchester’s Aspin as he also recorded a second round stoppage with body punches again doing the damage.

Sam Clarke produced a superb display to beat the the experienced Wez Daniels from Liverpool on points but Jay Fletchman was outpointed by George Powell from USKA Birmingham.

Sean Fennell was in explosive form with a second round stoppage of Cumbria’s Jordan Holding.

And Blackburn businesses man, Adam Hurley, produced a stunning performance to knock out Moss Side’s Andre Hall in the second round. Seb Denwood had an ‘elusive’ debut after beating Daniel Jones with the Stoke man hardly landing a punch.

Aiden Cope also impressed in his first fight, drawing with Rafa Cook from Preston while fellow first timer Herbie Silcock beat Nathan Kendall from Rossendale on points.

Lydon Grieve also enjoyed a points win over Zach Goggins (Rossendale) and Tomaz ‘The Tank’ beat Callum Ellcock, also from Rossendale, by majority decision.

Clint Grieve stopped Kev Hal from Stoke with a series of body blows ending the contest in the second round.

Earlier, the evening’s entertainment kicked off with a demo bout between six-year-olds Taio Holden and Henson Holden - the perfect start for the heroics of Worswick and co that followed.
