Despite talks with BT for two years, superfast broadband has still not reached half of the village.

A BT spokesman said there were plans in the future to introduce super fast broadband.

The IT consultant, and his wife, Helen, 48, said Boundless Networks is looking for an expression of interest from the village for it to consider investing in the area.

Mr Smith said he brought the issue forward with Cliviger Parish Council which displayed a form on its website for residents to sign.

A parish council spokesman was unavailable to comment.

Mr Smith said: “I work from home sometimes and the broadband speed can be so low you cannot work.

“Children can’t access the internet for research, it stops businesses working and it can have an impact on house prices.

“One side of the village has broadband and the other doesn’t, we’ve had enough.

“I’m frustrated over the lack of movement from BT.

“BT have promised us the faster broadband in the past but we have had nothing, no results.”

John Sharp, who has owned Monarch Garage in Burnley Road for 21 years, said he wanted the talks to go ahead because the current speed is affecting businesses.

He said: “I think everyone would jump at the chance to get faster broadband, I know I certainly would.

“I have to pay a lot of money to have another card machine at my petrol station as back up because the internet at the moment is unreliable in the area and the current one will go off.

“The village feels like it’s been left to one side when it comes to broadband, it’s always been bad here.

“I know it would help make my life easier.”

A BT spokesman said it has plans for the Superfast Lancashire programme for Cliviger He said: “There are additional fibre broadband cabinets planned that will serve Cliviger as part of the Superfast Lancashire programme.

“We hope to have the cabinets up and running and accepting orders before summer 2017.”

A Boundless spokesman said the firm was unavailable to comment.
