A BLACKBURN man has been charged with dangerous driving after a police officer was injured in a crash in Livesey Branch Road.

Liam Stevenson, 21, of Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn, was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and failing to stop.

He was remanded to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court this morning.

A red Nissan Micra was being followed by police after failing to stop in Preston Old Road at around 1.30pm on October 10.

The driver was followed to Livesey Branch Road where he hit the back of a police car and then drove off.

The car was later found abandoned in Heys Close.

The police officer suffered bruising and whiplash.

Livesey Branch Road was closed for nearly three hours between the Coverdale Drive roundabout to the junction with Star Drive.
