DANNY Graham’s wonderful winner for Blackburn Rovers at Derby County has been nominated in the Sky Bet EFL Goals of the Month awards.

Super-sub Graham’s coolly taken 73rd-minute strike came at the end of a flowing 25-pass team move in which every Rovers player on the field touched the ball bar from centre-back Tommie Hoban.

Owen Coyle hailed it as a contender for goal of the season and it has now been given wider recognition.

It is one of three in the running for the Championship goal of the month for September.

Also in contention is Adam Armstrong’s stunning effort for Barnsley at Preston North End, where he left former Ewood Park loanee Alex Baptiste for dead before bending the ball into the top corner.

Rovers were on the end of the other goal in the running for the monthly prize – QPR midfielder’s Tjaronn Chery stunning free kick in the 1-1 draw between the sides at Loftus Road.

But Coyle has no doubts which goal should win.

The Rovers boss said of Graham’s goal: “It was probably a contender for goal of the season.

“The goal was all about what we are trying to do; pass and move, take on players, be brave at the right time, be pleasing on the eye.

“It was such a wonderful team goal culminating in a fantastic finish from Danny Graham.

“If you look back at that as a Blackburn Rovers supporter I think you can see that’s a decent team trying to play the right way.”
