SCOOTER fans from all over the country descended on Clitheroe for the Ribble Valley Mod Weekender.

The annual three day mod scooter and musical festival featured live bands at The Grand, alongside stalls and memorabilia for sale.

There was also live music and DJs playing at venues across the are such as the Castle Inn, Key Street, the Rose and Crown Hotel and the Buck Inn.

Ian Hutchinson from Blackburn, 48, attended the event on Saturday with his son and said it was a great day out.

He said: “We went down on the morning and it was a really good event.

“It was interesting to see all the 1960s bikes. I’m really into the mod scene so it was great.

“I’m definitely going to go again. Next year going to go down and make a full day of it all, there’s so much going on.”

The event took place from Friday to Sunday, with 600 hundred scooters attending for a ride into town, where they were greeted by thousands of spectators and heralded by the town mayor and town crier.

The weekend brought in Mods from California and Toronto together with scooter riders from all over the country.

Cllr Allan Knox, who represents the Primrose ward for Ribble Valley Council, said: “I think its fantastic. It’s bringing people in from far and wide which is great news for the town, it was heaving with people. I saw all the scooters going through, It was really impressive.”

“Suddenly it’s got really big and hopefully it will continue to grow and go on to bigger and better things.”
