A MAN has been charged with murdering an Accrington man who was found dead in bed in his flat.

Detectives launched a murder investigation following the discovery of 65-year-old Mohammed Yousaf in the bedroom of a property in Granville Road at 8.45am on Wednesday.

And last night Muhammed Arif, 44, of Washington Street in Accrington, was charged with his murder. He is set to appear before Burnley Magistrates this morning.

On Saturday detectives arrested a 37-year-old woman from Todmorden on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. She remains in police custody.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for any CCTV footage which was recording in the area around Granville Road between September 16 and September 21.

Det Supt Paul Withers, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation into Mr Yousaf’s death is on-going and we are still appealing to anyone who has any information to contact us.

“Similarly, if you do have any CCTV footage from the Granville Road area and have not yet spoken to us, I would urge you to get in touch. Any information that you can provide could greatly assist our on-going inquiry.”
