Contractors working on behalf of the borough council are dismantling the landmark ahead of its relocation to Padiham Memorial Park.

The bandstand is being shifted as part of the £3million project to revive the town’s central shopping streets.

Cllr Lian Pate, community services cabinet member, said: “It’s good to see that the bandstand will be re-used in Padiham, in one of our most popular parks.

“We are in the middle of a major scheme to upgrade and modernise the town centre by laying new paving and installing new benches and lighting.

“The bandstand will fit in nicely in Memorial Park and will be used to host public events in more traditional surroundings.”

Work has been completed on the bottom of Manchester Road and The Mall, while the refurbishment of Curzon Street is nearly over.

Next up is St James Street but work will be halted over the Christmas period to minimize disruption to festive shoppers.
