POLICE have warned motorist to avoid the M65 near Burnley after an accident affected both carriageways.
Police said the smash had led to standing traffic in both directions at around 10.30am.
An Audi A8 struck the central reservation before blocking the carriageway.
Sgt Shaun Pearson, of Nelson and Barrowford police, said: "There has been a car accident on M65 affecting both carriageways just before junction 10 if travelling from Nelson.
"The M65 is totally closed both directions.
"Thankfully diversion is only off at junction 10 at Burnley and then re-join other side of roundabout as the accident happened underneath.
"However Gannow Top is at snails pace so still one to avoid. Will be closed for some time to make repairs to central reservation.
"Thankfully injuries are not believed too serious for the make driver.
"Could drivers please avoid and find alternative route."
