A SKIP hire business owner has said he was “extremely annoyed” to find one of his trucks had been “completely destroyed” by fire.

Kevin Taylor, 49, who owns Affordable Skips Burnley in Padiham, is offering a £2,000 reward for anyone who can name the people involved with setting to his white Man Skip Loader truck.

A fire service spokesman said a crew from Padiham and a crew from Burnley were called to Park Road to a fire at 12.30am yesterday after a passer by had seen flames coming out of the truck yard.

CCTV footage shows a man smashing the passenger cabin window before throwing a burning object into the cabin.

The fire begins to spread within the £10,000 vehicle and the man leaves the area.

More footage shows three men loitering outside the business.

The dad-of-three has led the company for almost six years and said he couldn’t think of a reason why this has happened.

He said: “It’s extremely annoying to turn up to work and see one of your trucks has been totally written off.

“It’s going to have an affect on the business in the short term whilst we get the insurance sorted out, but it’s still really frustrating.

“The people involved haven’t stolen anything and it’s not looked like they have tried to.

“I don’t know what to put it down to, maybe it’s jealousy? I have never had an issue like this before.

“They could have put themselves in danger by setting fire to something like that.”

Mr Taylor has been working with skips for more than 20 years before deciding to set up his own firm.

Mr Taylor said: “I would like to know the reason why the people involved did this.

“I’m going to be okay this time, but it could have been a lot worse and it could have put me out of business.”

A police spokesman said: “The truck was completely destroyed after the fire had burnt through the cabin.

“There have been no arrested made so far.

“If anyone has any information contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers.”
