A 25-YEAR-OLD man attacked his partner when they woke up and argued the night after going out to celebrate her birthday.

Blackburn magistrates heard Anthony Monaghan kicked Kayley Armstrong to the jaw as she sat on the floor. He then pinned her down and bit her on the cheek and lips.

The court was told he then left the house locking her in.

Monaghan, of Accrington Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Armstrong.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with a 25 day rehabilitation activity requirement, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 victim surcharge and £50 costs. He was made subject to a restraining order for 12 months.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said: “He apologised for what he had done but made out it was her fault,” said Miss Allan.

Richard Prew, defending, said both had been drinking. the night before and were hung over.

“He was very apologetic for what he had done,” said Mr Prew. “He doesn’t have a history of violence.”
