A DRUGS gang which flooded the streets of Burnley with heroin from West Yorkshire has been jailed for more than 24 years.

Addicts were asked to ring the ‘Cruise Line’ to obtain hard drugs, which was being sourced from a cul-de-sac in Bradford, through 2014.

Burnley Crown Court was told how when detectives moved in to break up the network, they found one street pusher with a cap bearing the legend ‘Your Local Dealer Since 1989’.

Drug dealer Wasar Ahmed also had a picture of himself, in a gangland style, with the word ‘Wasar’ spelled out in bullets, the court heard.

His co-defendant Haiyat Khan used the garden of his home in Thursby Square, Burnley, as a ‘stash’ for cannabis, said prosecutor David Traynor.

Customers would stop off at the house, and take small bags of drugs which had been left for them in the undergrowth.

Brothers Muhammed and Sohail Khan were the ringleaders, said Mr Traynor, mainly using a mobile phone number ending in ‘999’ to carry out their dealings.

Hamas Yousaf, from Pudsey, acted as a go-between linking the West Yorkshire and East Lancashire arms of the enterprise, the court heard.

Detectives made a series of raids on the West Yorkshire properties. The most significant was at the home of Yousaf’s mother where they found heroin with a street value of nearly £6,000. When Haiyat Khan was later arrested they found £4,500 hidden in his trainers.

Ahmed, 25, of Vincit Street, Burnley, who admitted conspiracy to supply heroin and cannabis, was jailed for 43 months. Haiyat Khan, 23, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cannabis, was jailed for 25 months.

Muhammed Khan, 26, and Sohail Khan, both of Jasmin Terrace, who each admitted conspiracy to supply heroin, were jailed for 78 months and 73 months respectively. Yousaf, 22, of Priestley View, Pudsey, admitted conspiracy to supply heroin and was jailed for 72 months. He had to forfeit £27,000 seized by police.
